Guerrilla Chikarticles: Storm Gone Wild!

The return of a certain Chikara tag team tournament, a blockbuster four way dance main event is set for the PWG World Title and an image of Shane Storm’s new mask! All this and MORE in today’s Chikarticles.

Chikara News as of 8.14.2008

After the main event of Vanity and Violence, Brodie Lee and Claudio Castagnoli started throwing it down in fisticuffs. These two couldn’t be separated by just Incoherence and The Osirian Portal. The whole locker room emptied out just to keep these two men from beating the tar out of each other. It was then announced that at Style and Substance, Claudio Castagnoli will face Brodie Lee in Chikara’s first steel cage match ever.

With a win over Team FIST at Vanity and Violence, Super Smash Brothers now have two points. At Style and Substance, Super Smash Brothers will face the only other team currently holding two points, The Fabulous Two.

Though he lost at All That Glitters, Jimmy Olsen won the confidence game by humiliating Fire Ant after ripping his mask off. At Vanity and Violence Olsen actually won by pinfall after giving Worker Ant the brainbuster. Next in line? Soldier Ant. The two will face off at Style and Substance.

Last week, I announced the return of WCW’s Battlebowl in Chikara. I have an update on the rules. Last week I assumed the extra “team” will receive a bye into the Battlebowl. NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND. The last two wrestlers in the lottery will face off in a singles match later that night.

The King of Trios tournament hit the scene in 2007 and replaced the annual Tag World Grand Prix. Since then, fans have been awaiting the return of TWGP for almost three years now, and the wait is about to pay off. Tag World Grand Prix is set to return as soon as November 2008 with an international theme.

Last weekend, we saw some kind of alliance form between Vin Gerard and Shane Storm when Gerard helped Storm win his match against Quack, and Storm helped Gerard retain his Young Lions Cup. In a recent Chikara Podcast update, we saw Vin Gerard demand Storm to “transform” and take his mask off. Under his mask was a more tortured and demented mask, or maybe he really is that ugly.

  1. Storm’s new mask is a little scary. I kind of liked the dig at Jigsaw in the video too. You should check out my PWG sells out DVD review

  2. I actually skimmed through it earlier and liked what I saw. I’ll actually read it later tonight and comment on how much I love it.

Storm’s mask looks like a cross between Mr. Zero and the twisted metal clown. Needless to say, it’s a change for the best.

And Colin Olsen’s release will only further a certain angle going on with a certain Chikara wrestler…

  3. Chikawesome right now. Every match on every card has storyline meaning. It’s the tightest booked fed in the world. I’m hugely impressed.

  4. Kirsch,

Good job! You are a deep source of indy-info to say the least.

Question, since I know very little about CHIKARA: why does Storm wear that mask? Is he nuts? Is he trying to get a psychological edge on his opponents? Do they ever say?

  5. Vinny, you’ve given me a great idea. Next week’s The Closer will be about SHane Storm and his evolution from an innocent 9 to 5 ham and egger to a crazy reject clown. And in next week’s Closer, I will answer all of those questions.

  6. Outstanding! I’m looking forward to reading it! And I want 10% of all profit you get from writing it.

    Oh wait, never mind. ;-)
